A winter weather advisory is in effect until 10 a.m. Monday, according to Halifax County Emergency Services.
The National Weather Service in Raleigh said earlier this morning preliminary data shows the Roanoke Rapids area received between 4 to 6 inches of snow.

Additionally, cold morning temperatures will allow any moisture or snow on roads, bridges, and overpasses to freeze tonight.
Be prepared for slippery roads. Slow down and use caution while driving. If you are going outside, watch your first few steps taken on stairs, sidewalks, and driveways. These surfaces could be icy and slippery, increasing your risk of a fall and injury.
