The Halifax County Sheriff's Office has been activated by the North Carolina Sheriff's Association and deployed to assist Sheriff Asa Buck and the Carteret County Sheriff's Office.

The Newport team is made up of Detective Cory Dixon, Major Mike Casey, Captain A.M. Harris, agents D.R. Radford, D.J. Epperson, D.W. McKeel and Detective L.E. Mann.
