The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office Selective Traffic Enforcement Program team reported the following, according to Captain A.M. Harris:

Friday, shortly before 10 a.m.,Deputy M. Bishop stopped a vehicle on Interstate 95 near the 168 milepost for texting while driving and a lane control violation.

During the search of the vehicle, Ismael Sangare, 23 of Washington, D.C., and Egio Ozoria of Greenbelt, Maryland, were arrested and charged with felony possession of marijuana, felony maintaining a vehicle for controlled substances, possession with intent to sell/deliver marijuana and possession of marijuana paraphernalia.

Sangare and Ozoria received $3,500 bonds and April 15 court dates.

Lieutenant C.E. Carroll and deputies J. Shoemaker and J. Pignanello assisted.

Friday, shortly after 11 a.m., Carroll stopped a vehicle for a motor vehicle violation on I-95 near the 169 mile marker. During the stop, a consent search was given by the driver and marijuana, paraphernalia and THC/BDC oil injectors were found. 

James Edward France, 42, of Attleboro, Massachusetts, was issued a North Carolina Uniform Citation for possession of marijuana and possession of marijuana paraphernalia. 

He received an April 27 court date.




Friday, shortly before 4 p.m., Carroll attempted to stop a vehicle on Highway 301 near Ferrell Lane in Halifax for a seat belt violation. 

A brief chase ensued and the driver turned into a convenience store and parked between two cars in an attempt to hide.

During a search, marijuana, approximately 635 dosage units of ecstasy and currency was seized.

Carroll arrested and charged Jequan Kimble, 25, of Rocky Mount, with trafficking MDA/MDMA, possession with intent to sell/deliver MDA/MDMA, felony possession of marijuana, possession with intent to sell/deliver marijuana, possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana paraphernalia, possession of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanor elude arrest, maintain a vehicle for a controlled substance, improper passing and fail to wear seat belt.

Kimble received a $15,000 bond with a May 20 court date.

Deputies Alex Wood and Terry Greene and Major David Foltz assisted.

The street value of the marijuana was $500. The value of the Ecstacy pills — MDMA — was $11,700.


Saturday, shortly after 12:30 p.m., Carroll stopped a vehicle for a motor vehicle violation on I-95 at the 168 milepost. 

Carroll determined criminal activity was afoot and narcotics Agent D. Newsome was called with his canine Duri. A positive alert was made by Duri indicating the presence of illegal drugs.

A search was conducted and marijuana was found. 

Carroll cited Kevin Marquez-Chavez with a North Carolina Uniform Citation for possession of marijuana and possession of marijuana paraphernalia. 

Marquez-Chavez received an April 27 court date.

 

Saturday, shortly after 4 p.m., Shoemaker stopped a vehicle for a motor vehicle violation on I-95 for a speeding violation. 

During the stop a search was conducted and marijuana was found. 

Delvonte Sherrod Arrington, 32, of Gaston was cited with a North Carolina Uniform Citation for possession of marijuana and possession of marijuana paraphernalia. 

Arrington received a May 12 court date.

Carroll, Bishop and Pignanello assisted.

Sunday, shortly after 11 a.m, Bishop stopped a vehicle on I-95 near the 168 milepost for a motor vehicle violation. 

During the stop, Bishop conducted a search of the vehicle and a handgun was found underneath the driver’s seat. 

Travin Sanders, 28, of South Carolina, was charged with carrying a concealed gun.

Carroll assisted.
