As of midnight Wednesday, the Halifax County Public Health System is aware of 650 confirmed tests performed on residents for the novel coronavirus.

The following is a breakdown of those results:

105 positive cases; one related death; and 66 recoveries.

There are 15 tests pending and 530 negative results.

Health system Director Bruce Robistow said in his evening update the trend in Halifax County is turning upward again. “This is quite concerning. Although there is an increase in tests performed, that number is not high enough to account for the upward trend. It is important to note that the national trend in regard to lifting restrictions does result in an increase in positive cases.”

Robistow said, “In our case, I am concerned that some that are taking advantage of the phase 1 process are not following the three Ws — wear a face covering, wash hands, and wait at least 6 feet apart in a line. Today’s data does indicate that strong attention needs to be paid to mitigating this virus and would strongly indicate that we cannot forget the importance of following the executive orders and recommendations.”
