The Halifax County Health Department added five new positive cases of the novel coronavirus to its database today.

That brings the total of positives since testing began to 841.

There have been 10 deaths reported — nine within the Roanoke Rapids area ZIP code and one within the Weldon area ZIP code.

The graphic charting the trend of positive cases shows a slight increase, the health department said.

The health department encourages residents to continue to practice the three Ws — waiting six feet apart, handwashing and wearing a facial covering. “Improving your compliance with the three Ws now will both better educate children as to how to practice them. Please take this opportunity to protect our children and each other very seriously,” the health department said.
