The Roanoke Rapids Recreation Department this afternoon announced its new schedule in light of Governor Roy Cooper’s phase 2.5 reopening plan:

TJ Davis Recreation Center

Start phase 2.5 operations September 8

Open Monday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Closed Saturday and Sunday

Reservations taken only during operating hours

Basketball gyms open for shoot around or no contact games such as Horse. Limit 15 people in the gym, limit of 1 hour if others are waiting

Track limit 10 people, groups spaced 6 feet apart

Fitness Room limit 5 people, limit of 1 hour if others are waiting

Face masks are required for entering and exiting the building. Not needed during exercise time

Chaloner Recreation Center

Start phase 2.5 operations September 8

Open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. 

Open Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Splash pad open Tuesday through Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Reservations taken only during operating hours

No more than 25 people inside

No more than 50 people outside

No more than 25 people at the splash pad/shelter area at once

Face masks required at all times inside of the building, other than when eating or using exercise equipment

Aquatic Center

Start phase 2.5 operations September 8

Continue Current Schedule:

Monday and Wednesday

Lap Swim: 5:45a.m. to 2p.m.; Aquacise Classes: 8:30 a.m.; 10 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.; Arthritis Class: noon 

Tuesday and Thursday

Lap Swim 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Friday

Lap Swim: 5:45 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Aquacise Classes: 8:30 a.m. and 10 a.m.; Arthritis Class: noon

Saturday

Lap Swim: 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.; Open Swim 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Call and make your appointment for lap swim and class times as needed

Face masks required entering and exiting the building, not needed during shower and pool use

Roanoke Rapids Public Library

Start phase 2.5 operations September 8

Keep 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. hours through phase 2.5

No more than 20 patrons in the Library at once

Jo Story Senior Center for Active Adults

Start phase 2.5 operations September 8, 2020

Open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Open for computer usage, game room, and library usage

Yoga begins September 18 on Fridays at 10 a.m. Limit of 15

Tai Chi I Tuesdays at 11:30 a.m. Limit of 15

Tai Chi II Thursdays at 11a.m. Limit of 15

Knitting Mondays and Thursdays from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Limit of eight

Senior clubs will meet at regular times. Limit of 25

Pickleball court open for play to all participants. Inquire inside for net, paddles, and balls

Exercise equipment available. Limit of 10 at any time. Limit 1 hour. If the exercise room becomes too busy, sign ups may be required

Services such as SHIPP and Tech Connect available by appointment only

Kirkwood Adams Community Center

Start Phase 2.5 operations September 8

According to section 4 of Executive Order 163:  Worship, religious, and spiritual gatherings, funeral ceremonies, wedding ceremonies, and other activities constituting the exercise of First Amendment rights are exempt from all the requirements of this Executive Order, notwithstanding any other provision of this Executive Order. on number of people

Can rent for health related services without restrictions on number of people

All other rentals are limited to 25 people inside of the building

Face masks are required inside of the facility

Public parks

Start phase 2.5 operations September 5

Playgrounds will reopen dawn to dusk, as are normal park hours

No contact sports to be held on fields

No restrooms will be opened to the public

Walking trails are available from dawn to dusk

No shelters will be reserved through the season, first come first serve only

No more than 50 people to gather in one area
