An Enfield man is wanted for an armed robbery which occurred Friday at the Essex Family Dollar.

It had originally been reported the robbery occurred at the Hollister Dollar General.

Chief Deputy Scott Hall of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office said investigation by Detective Travis Clark has led to warrants being issued for the arrest of 44-year-old Rodney Lynch on charges of armed robbery and possession of a firearm by a felon.

Deputies learned a man entered the store brandishing a long gun.

He demanded money and fled the store once the register wasn’t allowed to be opened. No money was taken.

Lieutenant Steven Casey and his dog Torro tracked the suspect a short distance down Evans Road where the track ended.  He is known to frequent the Medoc area.

Anyone with information on Lynch’s whereabouts is encouraged to contact the sheriff’s office at 252-583-8201 or Halifax County Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.

The investigation continues with more arrests pending. Hall declined to elaborate.
