With 15 new positive cases of the novel coronavirus added to the Halifax County Health Department’s data, the total cumulative number of positive cases since March now stands at 2,788.
The health department reported today there continues to be a sustained increase in the trend of positives.

There have been 45 related deaths with the following breakdown: 24 within the Roanoke Rapids area ZIP code; seven within the Scotland Neck area ZIP code; five within the Enfield area ZIP code; three within the Weldon area ZIP code; two within the Halifax area ZIP code; two within the Littleton area ZIP code; one within the Hobgood area ZIP code; and one within the Hollister area ZIP code.
The health department encourages residents to practice the Three W’s — wearing a facial covering, waiting 6-feet apart, and frequent handwashing.
Data on current and active cases is expected in the health department’s Wednesday report.
Northampton County
The health department reported Monday there were 1,065 total positive cases of which 959 have recovered.
There were 50 active cases. There have been 56 related deaths.
