An Enfield woman was charged Sunday in a domestic violence case after surrendering to the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office.
Chief Deputy Scott Hall said investigation of the case, in which Tamela Barnes’s boyfriend was cut with a razor knife, began around 7:30 p.m. when deputies responded to a residence outside Enfield after receiving a call of the crime.
Investigation by Lieutenant R. Rooks and members of A Squad determined the victim was cut at a convenience store on Thirteen Bridges Road and sustained several lacerations.
The victim was airlifted to a medical facility for further treatment and a warrant was obtained by Detective R.B. Biggerstaff for the arrest of the 40-year-old woman on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.
Barnes surrendered at the sheriff’s office and was placed in the Halifax County Detention Center without opportunity for bond.
She has a November 17 court date.
The victim was treated and later released from medical care.
