A Roanoke Rapids man was charged with fentanyl possession following a welfare check Tuesday in the area of Cardinal Drive.

Roanoke Rapids police Chief Bobby Martin said 2.1 grams of fentanyl were located following a probable cause search by Detective C. Batchelor.

Officers found 33-year-old Andrew Hardin in a vehicle.

The narcotics and paraphernalia were located inside the vehicle.

Hardin faces charges of possession with intent to sell and deliver schedule II and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He received a $5,000 bond and Friday district court date.

Lieutenant A. Salmon and Officer S. Langley assisted.

Martin said the public is encouraged to continue to report any suspicious activity as the complaints assist officers in investigations.
