Chief Christopher Davis reported on Saturday the Weldon Police Department hosted a DWI checkpoint in the area of Sycamore Street and Highway 301.
The Roanoke Rapids and Enfield police departments, Northampton County Sheriff's Office, and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol participated along with the forensic tests for alcohol division of the state department of health and human services. The North Carolina Breath and Alcohol Testing vehicle — BAT Mobile — was also used.
The event took place between 10:30 p.m. Friday and 1 a.m. Sunday.
“I feel that this checkpoint was a great success and I appreciate all the agencies that were able to attend,” Davis said.
