A store clerk sustained serious injuries Sunday morning after she was beaten with a crowbar during a robbery at The Oasis off Highway 903.

Chief Deputy Scott Hall of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office said the clerk sustained injuries to her upper torso including her arms and head during the robbery, which occurred shortly before 1:45 a.m.

Hall said a condition update was not immediately available.

The suspect assaulted the cashier multiple times with a crowbar, stole multiple cartons of cigarettes and fled the store. 

It is believed the suspect fled in a vehicle in an unknown direction.

The suspect is described as standing approximately 5-feet, 10-inches to 6-feet, 1-inch tall with a medium build.
