Two Roanoke Rapids men await Friday district court dates after their arrests on drug violations last week.
Roanoke Rapids Police Department Captain Jamie Hardy said a total of 20 grams of drugs — marijuana, crack, powdered cocaine, hashish and heroin — were seized from a vehicle Kehaad Hawkins was driving last Thursday in the area of Old Farm Road.
Narcotics Investigator C. Batchelor had been conducting follow-ups based on community complaints when he stopped a vehicle he suspected was involved in drug activity.
Hawkins had marijuana in his hand at the time of the stop. A probable cause search of the vehicle led Batchelor to discover the other drugs.
Hawkins faces charges of possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, felony possession of schedule II, maintaining a vehicle for a controlled substance, possession of schedule IV, driving while license revoked and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Hawkins received a $10,000 secured bond.
Anthony Jones, a passenger in the vehicle, faces charges of possession of schedule I and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He received a $1,000 unsecured bond.
