The Halifax Resolves Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution held its annual wreath ceremony Tuesday in honor of the 246th anniversary of the signing of the Halifax Resolves.

Wreaths placed by several chapters throughout the state and region were on the grounds of the colonial courthouse site in Historic Halifax.

The chapter also hosted a portrayal of John Penn, delegate to the Fourth Provincial Congress in Halifax and a delegate to the Second Continental Congress in Philadelphia.

The ceremony was the first of two events recognizing Resolves Day, the second a program by the Historical Halifax Restoration Association in the afternoon.
