A Littleton man was charged Wednesday with 17 counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor after an investigation that the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office began in April.

Michael Jordan Harrison, 22, was scheduled for a first court appearance today, Lieutenant Shane Guyant said.

The 17 counts reflect the amount of child pronography materials in his possession, Guyant said.

The videos and photographs depicted minors younger than 18 engaged in sexual and lewd activity.

Guyant said the sheriff’s office received information from the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation concerning a complaint of digital possession of child pornography.

Guyant described the investigation into the case by Detective B. Biggerstaff as intensive and said multiple search warrants were filed.

Harrison received a $50,000 bond.
