The Center For Energy Education today held the second of several Veterans Day commemorations scheduled in the Roanoke Valley through Sunday.

Halifax Community College held its military expo on Wednesday.

American Legion Post 38 will hold a Veterans Day celebration Friday at 11 a.m.

The ceremony will be held at the post home located at 717 American Legion Road in Roanoke Rapids.

The Northampton County Veterans Day ceremony will be held Friday from 11 a.m. to noon at the Northampton County Courthouse located at 104 West Jefferson Street in Jackson.

The Roanoke Valley Veterans Museum located at 100 East North Main Street in Littleton is holding a full day of events Friday.

At 2 p.m. a new stone will be unveiled by American Legion Post 308 at Veterans Park. The park is located on Highway 158.

At 3 p.m. Bill Robinson, America's longest held enlisted POW in any war America has ever fought, will tell of his 2,703 days of captivity in North Vietnam and sign his book — The Longest Rescue in the museum.

At 4 p.m. the museum will offer the first 100 veterans a free hotdog, chips, drink, and slice of birthday cake, courtesy of the Lake Gaston Food Lion, for the 15-year-old museum.

On Sunday AMVETS Post 101 will hold its annual community Veterans Day service at 3 p.m. in Veterans Park next to the post office in Roanoke Rapids.  

There will be music and a speaker.
