A Rocky Mount man was charged Monday with two counts of indecent liberties with a child following an investigation that began when the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office received a report in January.

Lieutenant Shane Guyant said the nature of the report was the inappropriate touching of a child.

Through an investigation by Detective Sergeant B. Biggerstaff, another juvenile victim was identified.

Biggerstaff determined that the crimes occurred at different times and the victims were familiar with the man charged – 42-year-old Tyrus Levar Martin.

He received a $10,000 bond and has a district court appearance scheduled Thursday.
