The Weldon Police Department reported the following, according to Chief Christopher Davis:

Tuesday around 1:30 a.m., Corporal S. McKimmey arrested Courtney Rondell Brown, 44, of Weldon for larceny of a motor vehicle, obtaining property by false pretense, and conspiracy to obtain property by false pretense.

Brown was arrested at the police department on charges lodged by Sergeant H. Cross following an ongoing investigation into a motor vehicle theft which occurred in November.

The vehicle was taken in the 900 block of Willow Drive and then taken to a local recycling company. 

Brown was taken before a magistrate and received a $25,000 secured bond with a July 27 court date.

On Monday shortly before 11:30 p.m. McKimmey responded to a business located in the 1600 block of Julian R. Allsbrook Highway after receiving a report a man later identified as Brian Eugene Laughing, 34, of Navajo, New Mexico did not pay for a meal he received.

McKimmey obtained a warrant for arrest on Laughing for defrauding an innkeeper and larceny. On Tuesday around 9:30 p.m. McKimmey located Laughing in the 1600 block of Julian R. Allsbrook Highway and placed him under arrest. 

Laughing received a written promise to appear in court on August 9.
