The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office reported the following, according to Captain Scott Hall:
An investigation which began near the end of June resulted in the arrest today of a Roanoke Rapids man on three counts of indecent liberties with a child.
Hall said Detective A. Wood began the investigation on June 28. The investigation was closed on July 8.

Wood learned that 56-year-old James Harry Peede Jr. reached out to a teenage girl via social media.
Peede was arrested without trouble at his residence earlier today.
He has an August 2 district court date. Online records at the Halifax County Detention indicate that Peede is no longer incarcerated. He had received a $25,000 bond.
On Monday Deputy D. Harrison along with Lieutenant M. Brown participated in the Governor’s Highway Safety Program Speeding Wrecks Lives campaign when Harrison stopped a vehicle for speeding.
Camill Dyshon Pierre Weaver, 37, of Roanoke Rapids, was identified as the front passenger.
Continued investigation led to a search of the vehicle and Hall said Weaver possessed a handgun which the Roanoke Rapids Police Department reported as stolen.
Weaver was charged with possession of a stolen firearm and carrying a concealed weapon.
He received a $5,000 bond and has a Thursday district court date.
