The Meherrin River Arts Council kicked off it's 41st season this past Saturday night to a packed sold out show.

Twentry year old singer/songwriter/musician Emily Ann Roberts opened the show with several of her own and cowritten songs. Roberts most recent achievement was placing runner-upon NBC's season 9 of "The Voice".

The headliner of the night was MCA Nashville recording artist Josh Turner. Turner has multiple GRAMMY, CMA and ACMawards nominations and recieved six Inspirational Country Music Awards.

Turner stated to the crowd, "I think this is the first time that I have performed in an Elementary school.

The next scheduled concert is March 9th with actor and comedian Sinbad. 

Ranked by Comedy Central as one of the “100 Greatest Standups of All Time,” actor and comedian Sinbad has had audiences laughing for over three decades. Throughout his incredibly successful career as a standup comedian, Sinbad has starred in two Comedy Central specials and four HBO comedy specials.

As an actor, Sinbad has been featured in leading roles in such films as JINGLE ALL THE WAY and GOOD BURGER, and on the FX super series It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Currently Sinbad can be seen using his comic talent as one of the stars of the new sitcom "REL" Sunday nights on Fox.
