Roanoke Rapids police are investigating a shooting death which occurred early this morning in the 200 block of Madison Street.

As of this report Chief Shane Guyant said the victim’s family had not been notified. He did confirm the victim was not from the area.

He said officers responded to the area shortly after midnight upon receiving a shooting call at a residence.

Officers noticed several individuals at the residence including the deceased.  

The death was determined to be a homicide by investigators, according to the police chief.
