A Roanoke Rapids man wanted for stealing $280 from a victim’s bank card in June of last year was arrested and charged today after he was found hiding in a bedroom closet at a Dickens Avenue residence.

Captain Scott Hall of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office said deputies J. Snider and J. Morales and Corporal D. Harrison received a tip that 25-year-old Zachary Earl Diehm was staying at the residence.

Diehm was wanted for five counts of obtaining property by false pretense and financial card theft after an investigation by Snider which showed that Diehm reportedly transferred money from the victim’s account to another account via Cash App.

Diehm remains in the Halifax County Detention on an $8,000 secured bond. He has an April 24 district court date.
