The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office reported the following, according to Captain Scott Hall:

An Enfield family was forced out of their home Saturday after shots were fired into the dwelling.

It is not clear what prompted the shooting.

After Deputy K. Taylor received a report on the matter Sunday warrants were obtained on a family member — 25-year-old Keyon Milik Archer.

Deputies and the sheriff’s office special response team executed a search warrant at the residence on Clanton Drive.

Numerous firearms were located along with what Hall described as an abundance of ammunition. Archer was taken into custody without trouble.

He faces charges of shooting into an occupied dwelling, shooting into an enclosure to incite fear, three counts of assault by pointing a gun, possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a weapon of mass destruction, assault with deadly weapon with a minor present, injury to personal property, and communicating threats.

Archer was placed in the Halifax County Detention Center without the opportunity for bond and has a June 27 district court date.

Sexual exploitation

A Roanoke Rapids man awaits a June 27 district court date after being charged with numerous counts of sexual exploitation by reportedly sending pornographic images of children from his home.

An investigation by Detective C. Warkins into Eric Deshaun Blount, 19, began after a report was received on March 13.

Multiple search warrants for social media accounts, his residence in Roanoke Rapids and devices that were taken during the execution of his residence were obtained and executed.

On April 12 Watkins obtained an arrest warrant for Blount for eight counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.

He was arrested by Corporal D. Harrison the following day and held on an $80,000 bond. He posted bond the following day but more information was obtained by Watkins and Blount was charged with five counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.

Detective C. Watkins went to Blount’s home on April 18 and took him back into custody.

Then more information was obtained on Blount and on Friday additional social media search warrants were executed by Watkins. Nine additional counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor and nine additional counts of third-degree sexual exploitation were lodged against him.

He remains in the Halifax County Detention Center.
