Roanoke Valley law enforcement reported the following:
Halifax County Sheriff’s Office
An Enfield man was arrested and charged Friday in an April 24 shooting in the Drapers Road area of Enfield.
Captain Scott Hall said Detective Sergeant T. Byers obtained warrants on 34-year-old Rashad Monte Carter for a count of felony possession of a firearm by felon, a count of felony discharging a weapon into an occupied vehicle, and a count of misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon.

The sheriff’s office reported at the time the occupant of a vehicle sustained a gunshot wound to the leg during the shooting.
Initial reports indicate that two vehicles were traveling on Drapers Road and the occupants were shooting between the two.
Carter was arrested at his residence without trouble by Byers, and detectives A. Holland and B. Edmondson.
He remains in the Halifax County Detention Center without the opportunity for as he was previously out on bond for a crime in another county.
He has a June 27 district court date.
Roanoke Rapids Police Department
Chief Shane Guyant reported on Friday around 1 p.m. a child under the age of 16 was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Park Avenue and East Tenth Street.
Officers learned the driver of the vehicle, later identified as James Livingston, 30, of Roanoke Rapids, had left the scene.

A detailed description of the vehicle was provided by witnesses and with the assistance of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office, it was located on Colonial Drive.
Livingston was taken into custody and charged by Officer B. Johnson with felony hit and run inflicting Injury and failing to yield for a pedestrian.
He remains in the county detention center without the opportunity for bond as he has pending charges from Warren County for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
He has a June 24 district court date.
The child sustained multiple injuries, but was released from ECU North later that afternoon.
