The Acorn Center's summer concert series kicks off next week, offering eight free shows featuring a diverse lineup of musical acts, holiday events, and arts performances. 

The free Thursday evening concerts will run from July 11 through August 31 at the Ed Fitts Outdoor Amphitheater on Mosby Avenue. 

Gates open at 5 p.m. with performances beginning at 6:30 p.m.

This year's series showcases a wide range of genres, including beach music, country, contemporary Christian, modern bluegrass, and rock. 

A variety of local food trucks will be on-site each week. 

The Thursday free concert lineup includes:

July 11 — The Chairmen of the Board — Beach; Opener: The Executives

July 18 — Jordan Rainer — Country; Opener: Chad Thompson

July 25 — Ben Fuller — Contemporary Christian

August 1 — Nu Blu — Modern bluegrass

August 8 — Blackwater Band — All genres

August 15 — Brickhouse — Party band

August 22 — Riggsbee Road — All genres

August 29 — The Phoebes — Rock; Opener: Phat Albert

In addition to the concert series, the Acorn Center is offering arts classes and other family-friendly events throughout the summer.
