A Roanoke Rapids area man was charged with trafficking fentanyl this morning after 73 grams were seized in the 1600 block of Three Bridges Road.

The Halifax Regional Drug and Gang Task Force executed a search warrant around 1:30, according to Major Anzell M. Harris of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office.

The target of the search warrant was 47-year-old Thomas Ashe.

Agents located crack cocaine, marijuana and the trafficking amount of fentanyl.

Ashe was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school, possession with intent to sell fentanyl, trafficking in fentanyl, possession of fentanyl, possession of cocaine, felony maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. 

Ashe received a $100,300 bond with an August 29 district court date. He was not listed as being incarcerated at the Halifax County Detention Center as of this report.
