A 39-year-old Roanoke Rapids man faces a second-degree forced sexual offense count following a report of an assault against a juvenile on Monday.

Major Anzell M. Harris of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office said Michael D. Fleming was identified as the alleged suspect.

During the investigation, the juvenile was referred to a forensic interview. Following the forensic interview, Detective G. Keel obtained an arrest warrant for Fleming. 

He was arrested Thursday and confined to the Halifax County Detention Center without the opportunity for bond.

He has an October 24 district court date.
