Henry Buchanan Moncure, Jr. passed away at his home on Sunday, July 14, 2019, at the age of 64.

Henry was born March 2, 1955 in Petersburg, VA, to Henry Buchanan Moncure, Sr and Mildred Hill Moncure. 

The oldest of five children, he grew up and lived in Roanoke Rapids and surrounding communities his entire life.  Henry loved spending time with his family, telling stories, cooking, and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his father. 

He is survived by his mother of Chester, VA, his wife Judie Dickens Moncure of Roanoke Rapids, his children Caroline Moncure-Patterson (Michael) of Leonard Wood, Mo., Melissa Moncure Craven (Josh) of Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany, Buchanan Moncure of New York City, NY, Lewis Moncure, Katie Moncure both of Roanoke Rapids, his step-children Brooke Teel, Justin Luce, and Julie Stanley and Jamie Stanley all of Roanoke Rapids, 11 grandchildren who lovingly referred to him as their Pop, his siblings Mildred Moncure of Garysburg, Fontaine Gibbons (Billy) of Chester, VA, Betsy Moncure (Vic Hague) of Roanoke Rapids, and Philip Moncure of Henrico, NC.

A visitation will be held on Saturday July 20, 2019 at Wrenn Funeral Home from 11:00 – 12:00.
