Michael Everett “ZZ” Stainback, 72, died Sunday, September 22, 2019.

A native of Halifax County, Mike was the son of the late Everett S. “Dick” Stainback and Marjorie Keene Stainback. 

He was also preceded in death by his brother C. Wayne Stainback. 

Mike was a lifetime member and devoted office helper at First Presbyterian Church, and a tireless supporter and worker for the Roanoke Rapids High School Yellow Jackets Sports Teams.

Mike is survived by a niece, Sommer Allison Duenow and her husband Hjalmer, of St. Paul, Minnesota, a great niece, Sophia Duenow, his sister-in-law, Ann Stainback, numerous cousins, including; Pat Edwards, Lynn and Mike Conner, David Edwards, Pam Jean, Rex and Terri Stainback, Rita and Mike Tromans, John and Lera Stainback, Cathy and Jim Cocke, Patti Fowler, Lydia Brown, Lou and Rich McEver, Jeanette Sledge,  Charlie and Bobbie Worrell, Matt and Andy Worrell, Leigh Sboukis, Deborah and Dave Walmer, Robert D. and Sandra Johnson, Kevin and Lori Johnson, Loretta and Thomas Mason, Sue Browder, Deborah Browder Richardson, Amy Heybrock, Beth Mize, Susan Perry, and many special friends in the Roanoke Rapids community.

Funeral Services will be held Sunday, October 6, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Joe Sandoval and Dr. Dain Butler officiating. 

Burial will follow in the family plot at Cedarwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 P.M. in the Loy Building at the Church.

Memorial donations may be made in Mike’s name to RRHS Yellow Jackets Sports Club, P.O. Box 906, Roanoke Rapids, NC 27870.
