Dallas R. Allen III, a lifelong educator, passed away October 30, 2019, two days after his 65th birthday 
celebration. 

He was the son of the late Dallas "Tom" Allen and Gloria Sledge Allen. 

Dallas was born at the former Roanoke Rapids Hospital October 28, 1954. 

Dallas grew up on Oak Grove 
Church Road near the Virginia State Line. 

He received his undergraduate degree from Campbell College 
(now Campbell University) and his graduate degree from William and Mary University, Williamsburg, 
Virginia. 

During his teaching career which spanned approximately 38 years, Dallas taught at various grade levels 
in Newton Grove, Raeford, Carolina Beach, Northampton County, and appropriately in his later years, at 
Roanoke Rapids High School. 

Dallas was a consummate professional who loved his school, and was 
dedicated to his students - his "children." 

Survivors include: a sister and her husband, Elizabeth and Scott Stone Macclesfield; brother, Charles 
Allen, Roanoke Rapids; brother and his wife, Kenny and Sandra Allen, Lake Gaston. Several nieces and 
nephews also survive. 

Graveside services will be held Friday, November 8, 2019 at 2:00pm at the cemetery for Oak Grove 
United Methodist Church, Oak Grove Church Road, Gaston, NC - a few miles east of Dallas' residence at 
585 Oak Grove Church Road. 

Celebrating Dallas' life will be John Parker, former Superintendent and 
Father Richard Galloway, Episcopal minister, Jackson, NC. Per Dallas' wishes, there will be no visitation. 

Dallas will be laid to rest with his beloved grandfather and grandmother, Dallas R. and Helen Moss Allen. 

The family wishes to say a "Special Thanks" to the following friends who provided much assistance to 
Dallas during his recent hospital stay and return home: Roanoke Rapids High School principal, Jeff 
White; Terri and Rex Stainback; Cousin Lee and Candi Allen; cousins Jane Deese and her daughter Sarah Deese Davis; Hospice; Anna Whittle, RRHS; and aides Gloria and Cat and Leverne Suggs.

ln lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Roanoke Rapids High School, 800 
Hamilton Street, Roanoke Rapids, NC 27870.
