Carolyn Chambliss Crowder, 89, died Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at her home.

A native of Halifax County, she was the daughter of the late Willie Chambliss and Mary Etta Outland Chambliss. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands; Raymond Earl Gibson, Tony Clary, and Melvin Crowder, her brothers; Leon Taylor, Harold Taylor and Mike Chambliss.

Carolyn was a longtime member of Victory Baptist Church and First Baptist Church where she was well known for her singing voice. She loved Christ, was a very generous and compassionate person who was always smiling. She loved to cook and was well known for her fudge and sweet potato biscuits. Carolyn loved all people, especially her family, and had a soft spot in her heart for dogs, even feeding strays that would come to her door.

She is survived by her children; Kenny Gibson and his friend Pat Price, Kathy Abernathy and her husband Johnny, Kevin Gibson and his wife Marcia, Kerry Kidd and her husband Dean, step children; Anita Bennett and her husband Jarmon and Sharon Parrish and her husband Billy,  grandchildren; Melinda Tanner, Nickie Evans, Shelly Whitton, Michael Kidd, Amy Kidd, Bryan Kidd, Raeanna Gibson, Lyndsey Garner, Caudi Taylor, and Brent Bennett, 13 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and special friends.

The family will receive friends Friday, October 23, 2020 from 7:00 P.M. until 8:30 P.M. at Wrenn Clarke and Hagan Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, October 24, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. at Victory Baptist Church with Pastor Jeremy Kobernat and Rev. Dathan Hall officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarwood Cemetery.
