Ruth Holliday Mires, 93, formerly of Roanoke Rapids, NC, passed away on January 5, 2021.

Ruth was born on January 3, 1928 to W. Otis and Jesse Kirtner Holliday in Wilson, NC. 

After graduating from high school she went on to study French and teaching at ECTC.

She married Raymond Weldon Mires on August 8, 1949.  

They had four children, Carol Rebecca Mires, Jeffrey Raymond Mires, Dotsy Mires Davis, and Barbara Mires Hall.

When Ruth had Carol, she decided to dedicate her life to being a devoted mother, wife and daughter.

She was very involved in the Rosemary Baptist Church, and taught a love for missions.  

Ruth loved reading and volunteered in the church library, she taught Sunday School, while also sharing her skills in bookkeeping for the church.

Ruth was predeceased by her daughter Carol Rebecca Mires; her granddaughter Jamie Ryan Mires; her parents, W. Otis and Jesse Kirtner Holliday; her husband Raymond Weldon Mires, the love of her life; and her brother Wilton Holliday just two weeks prior to her passing. 

She is survived by her son Jeffrey Raymond Mires & his wife Brenda Mires, Dotsy Mires Davis & husband Olin Davis, and Barbara Mires Hall & husband Gary Hall.

Grandchildren: Todd Davis, Erin Mires Hendricks, Caroline Davis Britton, Samantha Day, Michael McGuire, Cody Davis, Charles Hall & Sarah Hall.

Great-Grandchildren: Emma Day, Landon Britton, Sam Davis, Rachel Britton, Bella Hendricks, Ethan Davis, Felicity Day & Diego Espana.

 The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Oasis Church building fund 

There will be a private funeral service at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 10, 2021 at Wrenn, Clarke and Hagan Funeral Home in Roanoke Rapids, NC
