Margaret Ernestine Baird Stewart, 96, of Valentines, VA, formerly of Roanoke Rapids, NC, died Monday January 25, 2021.

Ernestine was born in Brunswick County, VA, to the late Luther Earl Baird and Mary Mody Bowen Baird. 

She was preceded in death by her husband Neal R. Stewart, and grandson Matthew B. Wells.

Ernestine was a wonderful mother, homemaker.  She loved the Lord and attended Pleasant Hill Christian Church where she was a life-long member.  

Surviving are: two daughters Linda Stewart Wells (Michael) of Raleigh, NC and Cynthia Neal “Haake” Stewart of Valentines, VA; a sister Jearleen Baird Coppedge of Richmond, VA; six grandchildren, Shannon Weaver (Al) of Alexander, AK, Leslie Wells (Ashley) of Wake Forest, NC, Lawrence C. Haake, IV (Lauren) of Mechanicsville, VA, Morgan Albritton (Matt Layton) of Asheville, NC,  Ashley Bonaparte (Tre) of Mechanicsville, VA; and Michael S. Wells (Cori) of Raleigh, NC. Ten great-grandchildren: Victoria Terry (Dustin),Caitlin Weaver, Noah Bonaparte, Holy Bonaparte, Matthew Wells, Virginia Haake, Violet Wells, Lawrence Haake V, Carson Haake, Nicholas Bonaparte; and one great-great grandchild, Cole Terry.  Also a very special friend Betty Clarke of Gasburg, VA.

Funeral services will be held at Pleasant Hill Christian Church, Monday, February 1, 2021, at 11:00 AM, with Minister Greg Hand officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The Family will receive at the church one hour prior to services.
