Cindy, better known as Meme, was a ray of sunshine to everyone she met.

She had a heart of gold and never hesitated to help others in any way she could. She was often found taking care of family and friends when they were sick, taking them to doctor appointments, or down on their luck. There was always a good home cooked meal and a prayer for healing.

She loved every animal she ever met, including those that ate her plants. She raised and cared for many fur babies in her lifetime.

Cindy was active in her church and worshipped the Lord faithfully. There is no doubt Heaven will welcome this angel with open arms as she enters.

She loved fishing, sailing and getting her hands dirty in the garden.

She and Jeff grew the best tomatoes ever grown.

Next to God, Cindy’s family was her greatest joy. She was affectionately known as Mama Cindy to so many and no one ever left her house without a full stomach and having felt loved.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Emmitt and Jackie Thompson.

She is survived by her son, Jamie Ayscue (Nikki) of Wendell and daughter, Amie Smith of Clayton; grandchildren, Hunter, Braydon, and Emerson Ayscue and Mackennann (Mackie) Smith; sister/niece, Darlene Wolgemuth; God children, Dane and Mary Beth Wolgemuth; longtime special friends, Vickie Krouse, Wanda Hall and her Jennifeder (Jennifer Rabano); numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Visitation will be Friday, July 2nd at Wrenn, Clarke and Hagan Funeral Home from 6-8:00pm. There will be a short visitation on Saturday, July 3rd, from 2-3:00pm.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00pm in the chapel of the funeral home.  Graveside services will follow immediately after the service at the Collier home place on Warner Bridge Road, Gaston, NC.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to the local animal rescue, adoption shelter or the local SPCA.
