Captain Eugene Marcus Bryant, Jr., of Roanoke Rapids, NC passed away on Tuesday, December 7, 2021, at the age of 95.
He left Roanoke Rapids at the age of 16 and served in the Navy for 35 Years.

During the World War II years, he served as a Medic with the 3rd Marine Air Wing and the 2nd Marine Infantry Division in the Pacific and with occupation troops in Japan.
During Korea, he served aboard a medical research ship and during Vietnam and later years, he served as financial advisor to five Surgeon Generals of the Navy and Commanding Officer of the Navy School of Health Sciences.
In addition to earning Bachelor and Master Degrees from George Washington University, he earned the following military awards: Legion of Merit Medal, Navy Marine Corps Medal, two Meritorious Service Medals, two Navy Commendation Medals, as well as Asiatic Pacific, Japanese Occupation, WWII Victory and National Defense. He is a Master Mason, in Roanoke Rapids Widow’s Son Lodge No. 514.
Captain Bryant is survived by his wife of 71 years; three sons Alvin, Ronald and Ray; four Granddaughters and three grandsons. Finally, the family has 19 great grandchildren.
Wrenn Clarke & Hagan Funeral and Cremation Service is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:30 to 8:00 PM Friday, December 10, 2021, with Masonic Rites starting at 6:30 PM.
Graveside Services with Military Honors, will be held in Cedarwood Cemetery, Roanoke Rapids, NC at 2:00 PM, Saturday, December 11, 2021, with Dr. Dennis W. Gregory, Sr. officiating.
