Lula Tudor Britton, 91, of Roanoke Rapids, passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2023, in her home.  

Mrs. Britton was born in Greensville County, VA, the daughter of the late Rosa Ann Williams and Fort Leonidas Tudor.  She was also preceded in death by her daughter Glenda Godsey and her sister Thelma Williams.

Mrs. Britton was very active in her church, Liberty Pentecostal Holiness (formerly Weldon Pentecostal Holiness), where she served as church secretary/treasurer for 28 years.  She also served as the Lifeliners Director (youth ministry) for many years, was a Sunday school teacher and active with WMU (women’s ministry). She spent many years in a career as a seamstress.  Later in life she went back to school to get her GED, CNA, and took many classes to expand her knowledge.  She had a great love for reading, talking on the phone and spending time with her family.    

Surviving include her daughters, Rita Coker (Mike) of Gasburg, VA and Kay Smith (Dennis) of East Lake, NC; her son, Martin “Ray” Britton, Jr. (Brenda) of Emporia, VA; her son-in-law Bobby Godsey, her sister Linda Foster of Roanoke Rapids, her grandchildren:  Debbie Hammack (Danny), Gene Massey, Jr., Sharon Barden (Adam), James Smith, Eric Smith (Hope), Sheila Ferebee (Joe), Amber Reeder (Chris), Autumn Britton (fiancee Ap), Scott Carter, Kevin Carter (Kristy), and Chris Carter (Christy); 15 great grandchildren; 1 great great child; her special niece and nephews:  Rick Williams (Jean), Lisa Church (Roy), and Randy Williams; and her best friends Myrtle Coates and Margaret Hudson. 

A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, January 30, 2023 at Liberty Pentecostal Holiness Church with Pastor Tony Smith officiating.  Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will be held prior to the service beginning at 1:00 PM.  The family will receive friends at other times at the home of Mrs. Britton,121 Westover Drive.  Wrenn Funeral Home is serving the Britton family.
