The Gaston College Prep (GCP) Middle school football team defeated Weldon Middle 42-6 on opening night of Middle School football.

The GCP offense was led by Andrew Faulcon with 7 carries for 97 yards and 3 touchdowns. Ja’Brion Smith had 15 carries for 87 yards with 1 touchdown and 3 two point conversions. Tyree Watson had 4 carries for 11 yards and Travis Robinson had 2 carries for 12 yards. Chaika Hines had 1 carry for 63 yards and 1 touchdown. His twin brother Abijah Hines also had 2 carries for 90 yards and 2 touchdowns but both were called back due to penalties.

Travis Robinson was 5-6 passing for 68 yards and 1 touchdown pass.

Brandon Hyman had 4 catches for 61 yards and an 11 yard touchdown reception from Robinson.

Kaeden Cherry had 1 reception for 7 yards.

The GCP defense was led by Brandon Hyman with 6 tackles and 1 pass deflection. Abijah Hines had 4 tackles and 1 fumble recovery. Derrick Shearin had 4 tackles, 1 forced fumble and a 53 yard interception for a touchdown that was called back due to a penalty. Tyree Watson had 4 tackles. Kaeden Cherry had 3 tackles and 1 interception. Chaika Hines had 3 tackles. Kamajai Banks had 3 tackles. Mikyle Harris had 2 tackles and 1 fumble recovery. Dedrick Edmonds had 2 fumble recoveries.
