According to the personnel report approved by the RRGSD Board of Trustees on Tuesdsay May 19, 2020, Roanoke Rapids High school new head football coach will be Chris Lyons effective July 1, 2020.

Lyons is a 2011 graduate of Roanoke Rapids High and has been a teacher and assistant football coach for the past three years at Roanoke Rapids.

Roanoke Rapids High school will hold a press conference at a later date to introduce Yellow Jackets new Head football coach Lyons and discuse the upcoming season and how the school and NCHSAA will handle the 2021 football season due to the COVID-19 issue.
