Despite the sunny temps outside, it’s not too early to think about football.
The You Can Too Foundation invites area male and female youth ages 6 through 14 to register for its Third Annual Football Camp on Saturday, June 20, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the TJ Davis Recreation Center in Roanoke Rapids.
The camp is free and open to kids from Halifax, Northampton, and Warren counties.
Founded by former Duke football standout and Weldon native Cedric Jones, the mission of the You Can Too Foundation is to inspire youth in the Roanoke Valley to achieve through academics and athletics.
Board member Matt Hux is leading planning efforts.
He said participants should expect to learn and grow in football skill development through drills and fun competition led by former and current professional college players and coaches.
He recommended participants, in addition to bringing a water bottle, should wear athletic clothes and sneakers.
Each student player will go home with an event t-shirt.
To register for the camp, visit GW Hux Insurance, 111 Roanoke Avenue, Roanoke Rapids or call 252-537-7770.
“There’s room for 150 participants this year,” said Hux. “I’m sure we can fill those slots.”
