The Roanoke Rapids High School Yellow Jackets continued their magical season Saturday night in the opening first round of the 2A NCHSAA State Soccer Championship play-offs.

The #4 seed Roanoke Rapids men's soccer team imporved to 17-0-1 beating #29 seed Northeastern at Hoyle field 8-0.

Roanoke Rapids goals were scored by Cameron Wilson with four, Carson Neal with two, Emerson Escobar and Alex Thompson with one goal each.

Jackets assists by Cameron Wilson with three, Carson Neal with two and Josh Miller with one.

Goalies AJ Pearson had three saves in goal and Hunt Qualls had wo saves.

Post match comments from Jackets head coach Craig Jean, " We came out and looked like we had not played a game in 10 days. The second half we woke up and played like we can and took care of business.  We are happy with a shutout playoff victory and now need to focus on our third matchup of the season against Currituck.  They are a very talented and well coached team. It will take our best effort Tuesday night, but we look forward to the challenge. "

The #4 seed Jackets will host #13 Currituck County Tuesday night and will be the third match-up against each other this season. Currittuck is who the Jackets tied with and beat outright once.
