The newly formed Carolina Diamondbacks 12U fastpitch Red Oak include several Halifax County players and guest players have started thier season off on a good note.

Their first USSSA tournament was played in Greenville on August 24th where they finished third overall. In that tournament, Roanoke Rapids native Chloe Moore pitched two complete games earning 18 strikeouts.

The Diamondbacks returned to Greenville NC on September 7th to play in a one-day USSSA tournament. The Diamondback girls defeated Carolina Flames (Wilson), Rocky Mount Raiders, Adrenaline Fastpitch (Ayden) to go undefeated in bracket play and win the tournament. A hot day that started early that morning and went into the night. After completing the pool play, the girls had to play three straight games with only 15 minute breaks between games. They kept their faith and by the end of the championship game they were tired but managed to dig deep, playing with a lot of heart, and battle for the win behind strong pitching from Shae Johnson and Chloe Moore.
