Three awarded KapStone scholarships

Matthew Kessinger, Megan Kessinger and Landen Poole were recently awarded $5,000 scholarships by KapStone Paper and Packaging Corporation.

Matthew Kessinger is a 2014 Halifax Academy honors graduate where he was All-Conference in swimming.

He is a rising sophomore at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington majoring in biochemistry. He was named to the Dean’s List Fall 2014 and Spring 2015.

He is a recipient of the 2015-2016 DeLoach Scholarship.

Megan Kessinger is a 2015 Halifax Academy honors graduate.

She will further her studies at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington majoring in creative writing/film sStudies.

She was salutatorian for her graduating class at Halifax Academy where she earned third place honors in the State Beta Club English and Short Story Competition.

She was All-Conference in soccer.

Matthew and Megan are the children of Bill and Rhonda Kessinger.

Landen Poole is a 2015 Halifax Academy honors graduate.

He will further his studies at Campbell University.

He was a member of the Octagon Club, Monogram Club, Student Government Association and Senior Beta Club.

He was also a member of the varsity football and baseball teams.

He is the son of Ray and Amy Poole.

The KapStone College Scholarship Program was established in 2011 to assist employees’ children with continuing their education. The scholarship program is administered by Scholarship Management Services, which is a division of Scholarship America.
