Edwards returns to Halifax sidelines

Longtime area coach returns to Halifax Academy sidelines this season.

Coach Pete Edwards has been names the third new coach in three years at Halifax Academy.

Edwards, who starts his 38th year of coaching will be the head coach for the Vikings, a team he once coached previous for about seven years.

Edwards started his coaching at Enfield High and has seen time at area schools such as Southeast Halifax, Halifax Academy, Enfield Academy, Roanoke Rapids High and this past year at KIPP High.

Coach Edwards stated, " I am excited to be back and the guys have been working hard over the summer lifting weights." He added, "Any time you lose 13 seniors to a team of twenty-one, it will be a blow, but we have some guys stepping up to be great leaders this year."

Try-outs for the Halifax Academy Vikings Varsity football is set for Monday July 27th @ 5PM.

Also the Vikings have a scrimmage and Meet the Vikings night Thursday August 13th at 6PM.
