A 35-year-old Enfield man died from injuries sustained in a Tuesday night single-vehicle crash, the state Highway Patrol reports.

Trooper J.D. Warren said Travis Dickens was a passenger in a vehicle driven by Kenny Battle, 36, of Whitakers.

Battle ran off the road to the right and the vehicle overturned several times. The vehicle came to rest overturned in the wood line off Low Ground Road just outside Enfield shortly before 10 p.m.

Battle, who was driving the vehicle east, was treated and released from Vidant Edgecombe.

Dickens was transported to Halifax Regional Medical Center where he was treated for traumatic injuries sustained in the crash but later died, Warren said.

Charges against Battle are pending consultation with the district attorney's office and Warren said he has to subpoena blood records in the case as alcohol use is suspected.
