A man wanted for reportedly shooting into a moving vehicle earlier this month in Conway surrendered to the Northampton County Sheriff's Office Tuesday.

Captain M.D. DeLoatch Sr. said Roger Lamont Spencer, 22, of Conway, surrendered due to pressure put on him to give himself up.

The shooting occurred around 3 p.m. on July 2 at Highway 35 and Deberry Mill Road.

The victim was driving when another car drove up beside him and shot into the drivers side window.

As far as a motive, DeLoatch said of Spencer, “He's not giving up a whole lot of information.”

Spencer was charged with attempted first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and discharging a weapon into occupied property inflicting serious bodily injury.

Spencer was jailed without the opportunity for bond for the attempted murder charge and $300,000 for the remaining charges.

He was scheduled for a first court appearance today but will have subsequent court dates, DeLoatch said.
