There will be no consolidated precincts in Halifax County for the November 3 municipal elections.

Roanoke Rapids voters, however, who traditionally voted at the Roanoke Rapids Public Library will be voting at the Neighborhood Resources Center on Jackson Street, county Board of Elections Director Kristin Scott said Tuesday.

The board of elections in May held a public hearing to solicit comments on consolidating three precincts — Littleton 1 and 2; Roanoke Rapids 6 and 8 and Weldon 1 and 2.

The county board, however, has not received any notification the proposed consolidations have been approved by the state, Scott said. “As far as consolidation goes, nothing changes, but we are going to change Roanoke Rapids 1 and 2 from the library to the resource center.”

Meanwhile, Scott said, the municipal elections will be the first in which electronic poll books are used. “The process is just about the same. Everything is done on laptops.”

Polls will open at 6:30 a.m. and close at 7:30 p.m.
