RRPD blotter: October 30-November 1, 2015

The Roanoke Rapids Police Department reported the following, according to Chief Chuck Hasty:

Friday October 30, 2015

At approximately 3 a.m., Officer Patrick Smith responded to a trespasser call at Waffle House.

The manager told Smith Herman Blount Jr., 53, of Roanoke Rapids, was asked to leave numerous times but refused to do so.

Smith arrested and charged Blount with trespassing. He received a $500 bond and December 18 court date.

At approximately 4 p.m., Officer Dale Strickland responded to a hit and run collision on Highway 158 and Chockoyotte Street.

Strickland spoke with the victim who followed the driver to the Walmart parking lot.

Strickland spoke with Melissa Ann Johnson, 34, of Roanoke Rapids, and determined she was impaired. She was arrested and charged with driving while impaired and possession of open container.

Johnson was released to a responsible party until her December 14 court date.

Lieutenant Jeff Baggett assisted.

At approximately 6:15 p.m., Officer Adam Salmon responded to a hit and run collision near Walgreens and met the suspect vehicle on the way.

Salmon determined Joseph Wilson Ragan Jr., 37, of Roanoke Rapids, was impaired and charged him with driving while impaired, no operators license, fail to stop at the scene of a crash and possession of open container.

Ragan was released to a responsible party until his December 14 court date.

Baggett and Officer Jeffrey Mason assisted.

At approximately 11:45 p.m., Sergeant Daniel Jenkins was on patrol in the 1000 block of Franklin Street when he noticed a vehicle parked with someone inside.

When he turned around to check people exited the vehicle.

Jenkins identified the passenger as Anthony Logan Childers, 24, and the driver as Matthew Anthony Martin, 36, both of Roanoke Rapids.

Jenkins found marijuana, pills and paraphernalia.

He arrested both men, charging Childers with possession of schedule VI, possession of schedule IV and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He charged Martin with possession of schedule VI, possession of schedule IV, possession of drug paraphernalia and maintaining a vehicle for keeping a controlled substance.

Both men received $1,000 bonds and November 9 court dates.

Lieutenant Perry Parks, Master Officer Roy Ball and Officer Jamie Hardy assisted.

Saturday October 31, 2015

At approximately 1 p.m., Strickland responded to a larceny call at Walmart.

Loss prevention reported Travon Marshay Smith, 17, of Garysburg, took items form the store without paying.

Strickland cited Smith for larceny and possession of stolen goods. He was released until his December 14 court date.

At approximately 2:45 p.m., Strickland responded to a larceny call at Walmart.

Loss prevention reported Aronica Magnum Smith, 40, of Weldon, took items form the store without paying.

Strickland arrested and charged Smith for concealment of goods.

She received a $400 bond and December 14 court date.

Sergeant Mike Moseley assisted.

At approximately 6 p.m., Strickland responded to a larceny call at Walmart.

Loss prevention reported Tear Marie Whitby, 18, of Roanoke Rapids, took items form the store without paying.

Strickland cited Whitby for larceny and possession of stolen goods. She was released until her December 14 court date.

At approximately 7 p.m., Officer Greg Colson responded to a larceny call at Walmart.

Loss prevention reported Latisha Quadiir Edwards, 36, of Roanoke Rapids, took items form the store without paying and left on a vehicle.

Colson stopped the vehicle on Old Farm Road and arrested and charged Edwards for larceny, possession of stolen goods and no operators license.

Edwards received an $800 bond and November 6 court date.

Parks assisted.

At approximately 10:45 p.m., Jenkins responded to a call of a careless and reckless driver in the area of Highways 158 and 48.

Jenkins located the vehicle on the parking lot of Bobby’s Supermarket.

Jenkins identified Stephen Daniel Austin Shirk, 20, of Littleton, as the driver and determined he was impaired.

Jenkins arrested Shirk for driving while impaired and during a search of the vehicle located a concealed handgun. He was then charged with carrying a concealed weapon.

Shirk was found in contempt of court during processing at the magistrates office and was jailed without opportunity for bond. He has a December 14 court date.

Parks, Ball and Hardy assisted.

Sunday November 1, 2015

At approximately 1:30 a.m., Parks conducted a traffic stop for a violation on Franklin Street near West Tenth Street.

During the stop Parks determined Marvin Hicks, 53, of Roanoke Rapids, was impaired and his license was revoked.

Parks arrested and charged Hicks with driving while impaired, driving while license revoked, fictitious registration, revoked registration, no insurance and failure to register vehicle.

Hicks was also served two outstanding orders for his arrest out of Nash County and received a $5,020 total bond and a November 18 court date.

Ball assisted.

At approximately 8:30 a.m., Moseley responded to a larceny call at Walmart.

Loss prevention reported Veronica Montressa Arrington, 44, of Roanoke Rapids, took items from the store without paying.

Moseley arrested and charged Arrington for larceny and possession of stolen goods. She received a $1,000 bond and November 17 court date.

At approximately 10 a.m., Parks conducted a traffic stop for a violation on Julian R. Allsbrook Highway near Hamilton Street.

Parks determined Andrew Christian Corbett, 23, of Roanoke Rapids was driving on a revoked license.

Parks arrested and charged him with driving while license revoked, fictitious registration, and other registration violation. During a search Parks found Corbett to be in possession heroin and charged him possession of schedule I.

He received a $4,000 bond and December 4 court date.

Ball and Hardy assisted.

At approximately 11 a.m., Strickland responded to a larceny call at Walmart.

Loss prevention reported Marvin Lewis Scott, 23, of Halifax, took items form the store without paying and then returned them to customer service for a cash refund.

Strickland arrested and charged Lewis with obtaining property by false pretense, larceny, possession of stolen goods, possession of drug paraphernalia for a pipe and resist, delay and obstruct for attempting to run away.

He received an $8,000 bond and November 25 court date.

Baggett and Moseley assisted.
