Roanoke Rapids police have obtained warrants for the arrest of Lloyd Wayne Franklin for the armed robbery of prescription medications from Rite Aid Tuesday night.

Franklin, 34, of Denton, is also wanted in a double murder in Davidson County.

Roanoke Rapids police Chief Chuck Hasty said in a statement Investigator Chris Babb has obtained warrants on Franklin for robbery with a dangerous weapon, possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of stolen goods.

Hasty also confirmed in the statement this evening Babb received information possibly linking Franklin to the double homicide; two armed robberies in South Carolina; one in Aberdeen and another in Georgetown.

Franklin may be in the company of Jennifer Michelle Lanning, 38, who also has a warrant for her arrest as an accessory in the Davidson County murders.

Whether Lanning was with Franklin Tuesday night in Roanoke Rapids is something the police department is still investigating, Hasty said this evening.

Franklin is considered to be armed and dangerous and should not be approached.

Hasty advises to contact local law enforcement if he is spotted.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the police department at 252-533-2898 or Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.
