The 71 write-in ballots cast in Littleton did not alter the outcome of the town board race there, elections Director Kristin Scott said.
A mayoral write-in campaign by James Mills in Scotland Neck, in which he received 118 votes, did not alter the outcome of that race in which Eddie Braxton was elected mayor with no filed competition.
“It's rare to have this many,” Scott said. “Scotland Neck normally gets write-ins but we haven't seen such a high number since 2009.”
Results of the municipal elections remain official until Tuesday's canvass of votes in Halifax at 11 a.m.
