RRPD blotter: Assistance needed; crime entries

The Roanoke Rapids Police Department reported the following, according to Chief Chuck Hasty:

Public's help needed

On Thursday around 11:30 a.m., Officer Jeffery Mason responded to a call about a car left in a business parking lot for several days with an animal inside.

A cat was inside with no water or food and during the investigation Officer Mason learned Kwijay Terrell Alston, 22, of Oxford, was the owner.

Mason could not locate Alston at an address in Roanoke Rapids that was left with the business and animal control seized the cat.

Mason obtained warrants on Alston for cruelty to animals.

Alston has ties to Roanoke Rapids and Oxford and Hasty said he is asked to surrender to law enforcement.

On Thursday around 4 p.m., Moseley responded to a larceny call at Walmart.

Loss Prevention reported two white males pushed a flat screen TV out of the store in a cart.

When loss prevention attempted to stop them, one of the suspects assaulted the employee.

One is described as skinny and about 6-feet tall wearing blue jeans, a red flannel shirt and baseball cap.

The other was described as heavyset with a scruffy beard and wearing a gray T-shirt, blue jeans and baseball cap.

They left in a green extended cab.

Monday November 9, 2015

At approximately noon, Master Officer Gorton Williams responded to a larceny call at Walmart.

Loss prevention reported Randy Rayshon Lee, 23, of Littleton, allegedly took items from the store without paying.

Williams arrested and charged Lee with larceny, possession of stolen goods and trespassing.

He received a $1,000 bond and January 24 court date.

Mason assisted.

At approximately 2:45 p.m., Mason responded to a larceny call at Tractor Supply.

Loss prevention reported Richard Andrew Mayton III, 30, of Roanoke Rapids, allegedly took items and concealed them while still in the store.

Mason arrested and charged Mayton with shoplifting by concealment, trespassing and contributing to the delinquency of a minor because his child was with him. Mayton received a $10,000 bond because he was already out on bond on other charges and a December 4 court date.

Williams assisted.

At approximately 11:30 p.m., Officer Matt Hunsucker responded to an assault call in the 200 block of Washington Street.

Hunsucker noticed the victim had injuries to the neck area.

Hunsucker arrested and charged Stephen Anthony Taylor, 29, of Roanoke Rapids, with assault on a female, communicating threats and resisting/delaying/obstructing an officer.

Taylor was jailed without opportunity for bond because of the domestic nature of the matter and received a November 25 court date.

Officer Chris Biggerstaff assisted.

Tuesday November 10, 2015

At approximately 10 a.m., Officer Adam Salmon arrested Jonathan Cameron Coley, 17, of Roanoke Rapids, on outstanding warrants for breaking and entering a motor vehicle, larceny from a motor vehicle and possessing stolen property.

These charges stem from a matter on October 10 where a vehicle was broken into and items removed while it was parked at Roanoke Rapids High School.

Deputy Chief Andy Jackson conducted the investigation with the help of School Resource Officer Rex Stainback.

Coley received a $2,000 bond and a January 20 court date.

At approximately 11 a.m., Officer Dale Strickland responded to an assault call in the 1600 block of Hill Street.

He noticed the victim had injuries to the head.

Strickland arrested and charged Jasmine Latrice Chambliss, 19, of Roanoke Rapids, with assault with a deadly weapon.

Chambliss received a $500 bond and has a January 22 court date.

Lieutenant Jeff Baggett and Sergeant Mike Moseley assisted.

At approximately noon, Mason assisted the state Department of Public Safety in searching Stacey Nicole Carpenter, 30, of Roanoke Rapids.

During the search drug paraphernalia and a concealed weapon was found.

Mason cited Carpenter for possession of drug paraphernalia and carrying a concealed weapon.

She was released until her court date of January 22.

Wednesday November 11, 2015

At approximately midnight, Officer Greg Colson responded to a larceny call at Walmart.

Loss prevention reported Stanford Sequoya Daniels, 33, of Macon, allegedly took items from the store without paying.

Colson arrested and charged Daniels with larceny, possession of stolen goods, trespassing, communicating threats and consuming an alcoholic beverage in public.

He received a $3,000 bond and December 4 court date.

Lieutenant Perry Parks, Sergeant Daniel Jenkins and Officer Jamie Hardy assisted.

At approximately 9 a.m., Mason responded to a larceny call at Walmart.

Loss prevention reported Nathaniel Keith Bradley, 24, of Roanoke Rapids, allegedly took items from the store without paying.

Mason cited Bradley for larceny and possession of stolen goods.

He was released until his court date of January 22.

Thursday November 12, 2015

At approximately 5:30 p.m., Moseley responded to a larceny call at Walmart.

Loss prevention reported Lounetta Elizabeth Watkins, 23, of Roanoke Rapids, allegedly took items from the store without paying.

Moseley arrested and charged Watkins for larceny and possession of stolen goods.

She received a $500 bond and January 22 court date.

Mason assisted.

At approximately 8 p.m., Hardy responded to a larceny call at Walmart.

Loss prevention reported Dequan Xree Johnson-Butler, 20, of Roanoke Rapids, allegedly took items from the store without paying.

Hardy arrested and charged Johnson-Butler for larceny, possession of stolen goods and resisting/delaying/obstructing an officer .

He received a $2,000 bond and December 4 court date.

Officer Scott Blythe assisted.
